And there it is. Reactor Number 4 of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The RBMK reactor which once helped produce electricity to power 30 million homes and businesses. The reactor which, on April 26th 1986 at 01.23 exploded during a routine safety test, causing the worst nuclear disaster of all time. The official Soviet statistics claim 30 people died as a result of the explosion, however, the UN decided that 4000 people will die of radiation related illnesses as a direct result of Chernobyl. Although, we will never really know as it would be impossible to measure, the death toll could be much more. Apart from the deaths, more than 5000 people were evacuated, most of which never returned. The new sarcophagus completely contains the radiation and our giger counters only measured about 1.13 roentgen. I still cant quite believe what I've seen in the last 48 hours, but it's without a doubt, one of the most incredible things I've ever seen.

As we step into a season of holidays let's remember to be grateful for what our past has thought us, that we are alive in the present, and for whatever our future holds for us. Being grateful is a quality that will help us in life no matter what the situation is. Being thankful will bring new light into ones life. . . On a side note this church is so amazing. And the sound of the organ within is totally out of this world.
